Four Minute Blog

Catholic adoption agencies are being silly with refusing to fix children up with same sex parents. I agree that the same sex parent model probably isn't the balanced family dynamic that God intended for children (and it remains to be seen the damage - or benefits - the gay parent family model creates).

But as Christians, we are called to bring compassion and love to the world, not tell people how wrong they are and yell `HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION!` every time we feel like someone else is getting their way when we don't agree.

I think it comes down to the issue of the lesser of two evils: human rights vs human rights. But as it's more sympathetic to let a child to the genuinne love and care of a same sex parentage than to leave its upbringing to a state children's home, or even the risk of them escaping to the streets, this semms to me like a classic example of the Catholics saying God's only as big as His dogma

read Mark's post on this as he shares my opinion, which is that same sex adoption is wrong.

    exactly!

If Christians agreed to everything and let themselves be walked over we'd completely miss the point of Christianity. Look at Jesus, I don't see Jesus going into a temple saying 'Oh, well there's dishonesty here, nevermind, it's happening everywhere else, go mad!'

I think the catholics and anglicans are right to stand up against this

www.kdwaiting.blogspot.com to see what I think.

The Bible is very clear... we need to stand up for what is right!!

... which primarily is loving God and loving our neighbour as ourselves, not following Old Testament law to the letter.

yes love neighbour and God is primary but it doesn't mean that we ignore everything else!

Yes loving God is most important, which surely means standing up for what He says in His word?

So often Christians just sit back and don't stand up for what is right... surely Jesus wants us to be as He was, which is truth telling and yes loving too. Jesus said "mother will go against daughter, son against father etc"... he is the cat amongst the pigeon!

I think there's a fine line between loving your neighbour and letting your faith and its views become compromised because of theirs

    correct conclusion; incorrect reasoning.

the real issue here is that im pretty sure the little blighters would rather stay in care than leave school and find 2 dads waiting to pick them up!!

ill crawl back under my rock now!

    :-p

    What????
Looking at the damage being in Care does to kids is enough for me to say that more children need to be adopted by carefully screened people be that individuals or couples of any sex, orientation, race.
WHo cares that one of your two dads picks you up after school? At least you have a dad to pick you up.

Children aren't in care anymore, they get fostered which is good.

If we look in nature, all things are male/female.

Gay couples cant produce children naturally together. God made them male and female!

Gay adoption biblically is a no no!!

TBH, I think helselata has more grounding for an opinion than all of us put together. I'm glad you commented Helen, because you're witness to the damage that I'm only guessing about.

My theory is that God would sooner a child be loved than made to suffer at the hands of the pharisees.

This just isn't true! Not the best example but have you never seen Tracey Beaker?

    Not that one obviously...enlighten me?

If you were being ironic, fine. But I work with kids who are so damaged that by the time they've been through the care system and left at 16, their potential is more about crime and drug use.
We live in a broken world. By saying that gay couples can't adopt because they live a sinful life, you are denying that hetrosexual couples live a sinful life. What if platonicly gay men (ie don't have a sexual relationship but believe they have a monogamous partnership together) want to adopt? Are you going to deny them because they have the potential to sin? Or if a mixed sex couple want to adopt that are "merely" co-habiting rather than married? Surely the 2nd couple are commiting sexual sin and the first couple are not? Doesn't that mean they can't adopt?
And seriously who is going to do all this research? Sin is sin in the eyes of God. Tax fraud, pilfering from work, bitchiness and sexual sin are all equal to God but you are elevating the latter so much higher than all the rest. (And that's only if you think single sex relationships are sinful which is a conversation for another time!)

Not sure you've though this through thoroughly enough...

    Exactly...

It's like the pharisees telling Jesus not to heal on the sabbath. You guys are putting law before love, and the God I know says `I want kindness more than offerings` (Hosea 6:6 ??)

Glad to see your talking sense. I totally agree with you.

Why do Christians and common sense just not go together at times? grrrr

    Dear Ben,

You appear please think again; for your own sake. Think through this issue further. Consider the following points:-

    1. 80% of convicts currently in prison were brought up outside of a proper family. Therefore, your proposal that homosexual couples should be allowed to adopt children would lead to an increasing prison population when, already, there is not enough prison capacity in the UK. Also,
what "say" in all this do the children have? In fact becasue of Herr Blair's harrassment of families, he is already preparing for more and more potential convicts. This is not only wicked but plain stupid aswell. However I feel sure that the Blair Brodacasting Corporation might not agree.

    2. Matthew Ch 18 v6 says:
But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the sea.

    God will not be mocked.

For your own sake, think and reflect again. The time is approaching when Jesus will return. Find Him now, before you are too late.

    Consider Romans Ch 1 v 18...
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the Godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. This chapter goes on to talk about degrading their bodies with one another etc and exchanging natural relaations for unnatural ones, i.e. homosexuality. This means that man (people like Blair and his coterie) have substituted the truth about God with a fantasy of their own imagination. They have stifled the truth that God naturally reveals to all people, in order to believe anything that supports their own self-centred lifestyles.

    God bless you.
